JAMAICAN ARTIST DERAJAH IGNITES CHANGE WITH “PROSPERITY”
Derajah, a Jamaican singer extraordinaire, has been a part of the Inna De Yard family for almost two decades and is a major figure in the Kingston music scene. His latest album, Prosperity, is a testament to the enduring power of music to inspire, uplift, and ignite change.
The story behind the creation of Prosperity is worth sharing. While Fruits Records members were in Jamaica on tour and recording their first projects, they met Derajah several times but didn’t get a chance to work with him. However, this was enough to set a strong foundation for a relationship beyond the musical side. A few years later, one phone call was enough to start the collaboration that led to the creation of Prosperity. The result is pure magic! Spontaneity, trust, and loyalty became the guidelines for the creation of this timeless masterpiece, which aims to carry anyone on their path seeking for knowledge, love, and prosperity.
Derajah is recognized as the bridge between the old and new generations, passing on knowledge from the elders to the youths. In collaboration with A-class studio band The 18th Parallel, he presents his latest effort, ‘Prosperity,’ a showcase album of six songs with dub versions produced between Geneva, Switzerland, and Kingston, Jamaica. With the expert touch of mixing maestro Westfinga, the 11 ‘Prosperity tracks are sonic masterpieces that blend the raw and brutal sound of 80s Jamaican rub a dub with today’s sophisticated and polished modern sound.
Derajah’s raw and emotive vocals paint vivid pictures of struggle and resilience, carrying a profound message of social consciousness and resistance against oppressive forces. The 18th Parallel’s ultra-solid riddims create a rich tapestry of sound that will transport you to the heart of roots reggae. With its impeccable production quality, ‘Prosperity’ captures the essence of reggae’s golden era.
This groundbreaking album is a testament to the enduring power of music to inspire, uplift, and ignite change. The story behind its creation is also worth sharing. The strong foundation laid by the earlier meetings between Derajah and Fruits Records members provided the trust and loyalty necessary to create this gem. Spontaneity was the key, and the result stands out of time and space and aims to carry anyone seeking knowledge, love, and prosperity on their path.
