THE WISE BLOODS REVEAL NEW SINGLE RELEASE: ‘EYE OUT FOR THE DEVIL’
The Wise Bloods, the reggae sound of South London, are excited to announce their new project, a captivating and innovative collection of Progressive Roots music for the international reggae community.
The release showcases the band’s unique talent, combining classic reggae styles such as Roots, Steppas, Rockers, and Rocksteady with a fresh and unexpected approach under the creative concept ‘Eye Out For The Devil.’ The band’s artistic vision is to unify all the releases under one cohesive theme that symbolises their commitment to avoid the negative influences of humanity.
This musical journey consists of digital and physical releases, culminating in a 12-track vinyl compilation featuring an array of dubs, remixes, and re-released Riddims later this year. The album is enriched by the presence of special guest artists, making it a highly anticipated release.
The project’s inspiration stems from the title track, ‘Eye Out For The Devil,’ which represents the band’s commitment to avoid the traps set by the evils and darkness in the world. Lead singer Jesse James eloquently explains the meaning: “To keep an eye out for the devil means avoiding the traps set by the evils and darkness in the world, starting with being aware of and conquering the weaknesses and negativity within oneself. These personal weaknesses make the individual susceptible to ill intentions and the trappings of this Babylon system.”
The band has undergone a transformative process, shifting away from creating music based on external expectations. Instead, they have embraced explicit or provocative lyrics and themes, allowing the project to veer into a darker, more moody expression of reggae music. Although this may throw some listeners off, the band is confident that many will resonate with such a raw and rebellious approach and embrace the catharsis, freedom, and empowerment it represents.
This project sets itself apart through a revolutionary approach to the band’s music creation process, with each song a genuine expression of the band members’ human experiences, mindfully crafted to convey the emotions, scenes, and messages relevant to them at the time. This more authentic self-expression placed into the music is what the band expects ‘Eye Out For The Devil’ to be a pivotal body of work that will further define and establish their signature sound.
Adding to the excitement is the collaboration with esteemed engineer and visionary Jaime Zugasti. The Wise Bloods have recorded the foundational elements of their music at the legendary BBMC studios under Zugasti’s expertise. This fusion of creative energies has breathed new life into the music, offering a fresh perspective.
