The Morning Vibes Riddim is an EP that captures the feel of vintage 1970’s reggae/dub aesthetics, instrumentation, and consciousness while accentuating elements of Cali Roots.
The first track “Ricky” features veteran Jamaican singjay Carlton Livingston, who first emerged on the scene in 1977 on Channel One’s Hitbound label and later became most known for his hits ‘100 Lb. Collie Weed’ and “Rumors”.
The second track “Right Side ” is a combination of Trinidadian singer/songwriter Metric Man paired with Addis Pablo on Melodica, the son of the legendary Dub pioneer Augustus Pablo. Track three “Morning Feeling” pairs the lead vocalist Phil Simpkin from Southern California-based band The Simpkin Project with the vocal and guitar talents of Jesse James from London-based band The Wise Bloods.
The instrumental riddim was crafted and composed by Deeper Vision Recordings label manager Ted Ganung. The release marks the 10-year anniversary of the NYC-based label Deeper Vision Recordings.
