Don't Throw Stones: Irie Ites deliver Trinity’s posthumous gift on the Try riddim. Reggae Tastemaker

ECHOES OF A GOLDEN AGE: IRIE ITES DELIVER TRINITY’S GIFT ON THE TRY RIDDIM

The legendary Jamaican deejay Trinity left us in 2021, but his majestic voice still commands our full attention. In a sparkling collaboration with Irie Ites Records and Evidence Music, the roots pioneer returns with Don’t Throw Stone.

This posthumous release sits atop the heavy Try Riddim, originally built by the iconic Roots Radics band. Its vibrant, essential wisdom feels as urgent as ever.

Trinity’s vocals warm our hearts while warning us against hasty judgments. He reminds listeners that deceptive appearances often mask the truth. It is a song about tolerance, humility and consciousness that perfectly captures his signature blend of fluid melody, sharp lyrics, and classic rub-a-dub styling.

As the older brother of deejay and toaster Clint Eastwood and a peer of Big Youth, Trinity thoroughly shaped the dancehall landscape of the 1970s.

TRUE FOUNDATION MUSIC NEVER LOSES ITS POWER

This poignant release beautifully mirrors a deep friendship and longtime collaboration. Between 2007 and his passing, Trinity rocked hundreds of stages alongside the Irie Ites sound system. He recorded crucial dubplates and released the star-studded album Eye to Eye back in 2013, bridging generations of listeners.

The current track follows the trail blazed by Prince Alla’s Mash Down Rome, which used the same riddim to spark massive online community engagement. That spectacular cut gathered nearly 29,000 views and hundreds of shares from reggae purists worldwide.

Don’t Throw Stone honours the golden age of roots reggae while injecting a contemporary sound system energy into the mix. It proves that true foundation music never loses its power.

Turn up the volume and tune in to masters at work.
