FREE FLOW SESSIONS: STICK FIGURE’S JOURNEY FROM STUDIO JAMS TO DUB MASTERY
Scott Woodruff spent years posting quiet clips from his studio sessions, each filled with looping chords and improvised rhythms. Fans watched ideas unfold in real time. These moments now form the spine of Free Flow Sessions, an atmospheric, rhythm-rich album created by Woodruff and his band, Stick Figure, from those informal beat-making experiments.
The release gathers 12 instrumental and dub-style reggae tracks crafted over the course of seven years of open-ended recording. Six pieces arrive as fresh additions, while six grow from earlier sketches that first reached listeners through YouTube and other platforms.
Woodruff records alone in the studio. He writes, plays, and produces every sound. He later brings the music to the stage with a tight live unit that includes Johnny Cosmic on guitar, keyboards and backing vocals. This shift from solitary creation to collective performance gives the project its shape and energy.
FREE FLOW SESSIONS SHOWS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN TALENT AND INSTINCT LEAD THE WAY
The album arrives through Woodruff’s label, Ruffwood Records and the Ineffable Music Group. He describes the tracks as “musical explorations” born from sessions without pressure or commercial planning, focusing on the “art of creating to create,” which allows ideas to settle at their own pace.
Each piece has been remixed, extended, or reshaped. Moon Palace, the first single, appeared in October and sets a steady, reflective tone. Free Flow Sessions shows how Stick Figure’s sound has evolved since 2018 and offers a clear window into Woodruff’s instinct-driven process.
